BE SOUND DO NOT POLLUTE

Kerala State Pollution Control Board recently released a video to raise awareness about the numerous, pervasive and persistent noise pollution in our environment. There can be no greater abuse of care on sick and healthy alike than avoidable environmental noise. Everyone has a right to a noise-free environment.

The video shows the plight of a hearing-impaired child who deliberately gives up the use of a hearing aid after suffering from excessive disappointment, frustration, and exhaustion caused by this increasingly annoying urban phenomenon.

According to the director, Sumesh Nandakumar, “Noise pollution is omnipresent. Just because we don’t notice its harmful effects on a daily basis doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist.” It is time to recognize the presence of unwanted noise as serious environmental pollution that can cause adverse cardiovascular and mental disturbances and ensure that no person is exposed to undesirable sounds of any kind.
